Joe Putter Interview by Harry Dogleg for Super Golf Magazine
Editor's note: Today we are interviewing Joe Putter recent winner of the CCGA Invitational and this year's leading money winner.
Harry: This was a close tournament you just finished at Bearbones G. C.
Joe: Yes, it was a very tough course and I was fortunate enough to win since we had such a strong field. I knew Nicky Bear and Danny A. Gorilla were really playing very well and I had to play exceptionally well to win the tournament, which you know is one of our 3 majors.
Harry: You shot some fine rounds! I believe your scores were 87-94-88.
Joe: Yes it was some of my better shot making this year. I kept the ball in the fairway much of the time. It came down to the final two holes but the real turning point was the shot on the 17th hole that I hit.
Harry: Could you tell our readers about that's hot?
Joe: Certainly. As you know the 17th is the 395 years long. I hit a bullet of a drive off the tee, at least 230 yards. Benny "4putt" hit his drive about 330 yards just short of the bunker on the left. I had 165 yards left to the green, hit 24 degree hybrid. I hit a trebonski shot which left me about 15 feet from the cup. Benny hit a little sand wedge about 25 feet from the hole. Benny hit his first putt 10 feet short his next one 6 feet past and then 2 putted from there. He made a 6. I rolled my first putt about 5 feet past and 2 putted from there. I made 5. I knew I was in good shape with one hole to play. We both made 6's on the last hole, a 370 yard par 4.
Harry: Joe, what is a "trebonski" shot?
Joe: I am quite certain that most of our readers are familiar with a "trebonski" shot. It is a shot where you get a little in front of the ball and push it to the right and the ball hits a tree and bonskis up on the green. You need a lot of luck. Sometimes you end up in a tree like Tiger Woods and Phil Michelson both have done.
Harry: You are presently the leading money winner on the Cartoon Characters Golf Association. What events have you won and what is your total earnings?
Joe: I won the Robbins Nest Invitational, the Maestro Open and the Great Cartoon Players Invitational. I've won about $6,789.00 so far. We still have three events left and the competition is tough. Both King A. Daniel and Nicky Bear are playing very well. I was fortunate enough to squeeze out this win against Wolfie "4Putt" Bogan. He was hitting the ball superbly, but you know his putting.
Harry: With three wins so far this year you are going to be tough to catch.
Joe: I hope I can keep hitting the ball solidly and my putting has helped considerably. I think I'm averaging about 3.5 putts which is excellent.
Harry: Joe there is a lot of talk about sports enhancement additives in many of the sports such as baseball and track. Do you take enhancement additives?
Joe: Yes, I must admit I do take some additives.
Harry: YOU DO?!! What exactly do you take?
Joe: When I have a late starting time I usually have 2 cheeseburgers. They really are calming and keep me smiling. (Pats stomach)
Harry: Cheeseburgers? Where do you buy them?
Joe: I'm sorry I can't tell you where I buy them, because if everyone found out the competition would be fierce. Let all the players find their own. I am not telling where I get mine.
Harry: Any golf tips for all your fans?
Joe: Absolutely, watch the videos on the website and you will find a lot of shortcuts to great golf. Be sure to join the Joe Putter Fan Club and get your Warmer Upper and free simple training aids.
Harry: What type of golf instruction are you giving? No one gives anything for free.
Joe: My golf instruction is all free because it follows my principles: 1.) Learn golf quickly, 2.) Play golf for reasonable fees, 3.) Have fun - laugh, learn, and enjoy yourself.
